A four week foundational program this September that allows you to learn and perfect basic glass fusing at Yadawi.
Eight Sessions consisting of three hours each for a total of 24 class hours. Familiarizing participants with proper studio practise to build upon in glass fusing.
Week 1
- Historical overview of glass and glass fusing. History and innovations.
- Understanding the properties of glass (COE’s)
- Studio Practise – proper cutting of glass and prepping
- Tools & Safety
- Cutting and prepping samples for glass fusing
- Single layer 3mm
- Double layer 6mm
- Triple Layer 9 mm
Week 2
- Kiln testing and kiln prepping
- Kiln shelf and cleaning maintenance
- Firing sample swatches and documentation
- Working with different forms of glass for samples
- Scoring Circles with ease
Week 3
- Low bas relief fusing projects (3 tiles) with fiber paper
- Working with glass frit
- Working with powders on sheet
- Subtractive drawing
- working with masks and stencils
Week 4
- Patterns and tesselations
- Creating patterned sheets for future projects
- Working with stringers and glass shards
Workshop will be led by Artisanal Educator and Creative Director of Yadawi, Lubna Saif Abbas. With regular critiques and group reviews.
